Two LPMS Teachers Honored

Earlier this week, two teachers from Liberty Park Middle School were honored on al.com for their achievements in the classroom. Courtney Simmons teaches eighth grade social studies, and has been teaching in the Vestavia Hills school system for five years. Courtney is the school’s nominee for the Vestavia Hills Rotary Club Teacher of the Year.

Travis Bender has been at the school for four years and along with being the band director, he teaches Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and Pep Band. Travis is the school’s nominee for Alabama State Teacher of the Year.

Both teachers push their students in the classroom, creating a learning environment that is both fun and challenging. What an honor to be recognized as making a difference in kids’ lives! Congratulations to Courtney and Travis!
